Join us on a journey exploring birds and flowers of Paradise! This course will cover all practical aspects in designing and painting your own unique illuminated composition inspired by the fantastical borders of Islamic manuscripts.

We will begin by looking at the historical and stylistic context of these works of art, tracing motifs though the Silk Road to their arrival in the Islamic lands. Students will have the opportunity to learn about traditional methods of staining and preparing paper using natural materials.
